Going to San Francisco for my honeymoon at the end of October. Been through all of the tourist websites and other information to find anything on the web. My fiance and I have never been out to California...
Can anyone recommend things that they liked in San Francisco? Anything that wasn't worth going to see? Can any locals recommend things that are off the beaten path that you might not know about unless you're from out there?
Thanks in advance!!!Fun Things to Do in San Francisco?
I lived in SF for several years as an art student and one of the most fun things I ever did was an everyday activity that is available for very cheap.
When you live in SF you use public transportation and some of the lines are really one-of-kind experiences.
I would highly recommend certain streetcar lines as exceptional experiences in time and space. Two lines on the MUNI are great "rides": the J Church and the N Judah. You can get on either of these in the underground concourse on Market Street.
Ride the J Church to 24th Street (Noe valley) and take a 3-block walk west on 24th. Lots of eye candy on a lovely neighborhood commercial street. Getting there is most of the fun: you climb up Church street along Dolores Park (where many San Franciscans go to lie on the grass). Feel free to spend some time there too.
Ride the N Judah to Golden Gate Park. The ride there is very beautiful as well as it runs along Duboce Park before going through a long tunnel and then emerging on Cole. You could get off the MUNI on Cole and walk north a few blocks to Haight Street (re-live the sights and sounds of the 1960's in a "pretend" mode). If you did this you could walk up to Stanyan street before returning to the MUNI line and then hopping off on 9th and walking into Golden Gate Park. There you have many wonderful attractions: The De Young Art Museum, the California Academy of Sciences, the Japanese tea Garden, the Strybing Arboretum. Just remember that you can go up the observation tower at the de Young for free. Up there about 8 stories up you have an incredible 360 degree view of the city. It is spectacular and it is free.
If you like the beach you can ride the Muni N Judah all the way to the ocean side. And back to where you started.Fun Things to Do in San Francisco?
Go to the top of Coit Tower early in the morning 5$ it ends at 6. Ride the Cable Cars for like less than 5$. Check out our Golden Gate Bridge. Maybe boat to Alcatraz (Prison On A Honeymoon?). Take a nice walk down The Pier/Fisherman's Wharf and the Ferry Building is down the way. Visit Ghirardelli Square (great chocolate) the Cheesecake Factory's delicious too. Chinatown is common. If you got the bucks, it'll be The best Ha get fancy/ go all out with it. Helicopter? Cruise on the bay; beautiful! Honestly get away with great hotel %26amp; a beautiful view. Car? Lombard St. Lol? Definitely hit Twin Peaks, you could probably cry over the huge view but be careful it could get windy. If it ends up hot (depends on the crazy weather) you should go to Ocean Beach but it's whattev, the Cliff House is nice. Plenty of great restaurants just look it up %26amp; call around. The City is the best choice, Enjoy!
Tons of stuff to do. Here are a couple things I didn't see already mentioned. Go to Chinatown. Walk around, do some shopping and eat dim-sum. The Exploritorium, (at the Marina) is really fun too. More off the beaten path: If you are going to have a car, take a drive to Point Reyes and you will enjoy some spectacular coastal scenery - guaranteed.Fun Things to Do in San Francisco?
We happen to like Fisherman's wharf area, especially 2 restaurants. One is the Buena Vista at the end of the Powell/Hyde cable car turnaround and the other is the Franciscan in the center of the wharf overlooking the bay. One is family type with good home cooking and the other is fine dining. Muir Woods is a great attraction to visit also. We usually stay at a Holiday Inn a block or two from the wharf and are happy with it.
I would recommend the Alcatraz tour. Half moon bay is really fun to go to, they have beautiful beaches and you can even go horseback riding there too. Santa Cruz has the boardwalk and its not too far of a drive from SF. Then the opposite direction is Napa. There is a ton of stuff to do, it all depends on what you like. Happy honeymooning!Fun Things to Do in San Francisco?
There are so many things to do in SF that without knowing your interests it is hard to give you a helpful answer.

GREAT choice for a honeymoon! :)
Honestly, of all the places I've been to, San Francisco is definitely on the top 3.
Well let's see what could you do?
I actually went a couple of weeks ago and there are soooo many FUN things to do and see.
You could go down to the
-Fisherman's Wharf
-Union Square-- it's like a smaller version of Times square
-Golden gate park
-Golden Gate Bridge-- but beware, it's SUPER windy and cold, and if you decide to walk to it and back, I think it's about 2-3 miles, but it's VERY beautiful.
-Haight and Ashbury-- the coolest little cafe's and boutiques and so much history, totally awesome.
-The Coit Tower
-Alcatraz-- world-famous!
-AT%26amp;T Park-- home of the San Francisco Giants
-Chinatown
-Go to dinner @ the Cliff House, and walk down to the beach
-Yerba Buena Gardens
-TONS of museums to see, the most recent one I went to was the Academy of Sciences, it was really cool
-Drive down the "Crookedest Street"
-Go see a show, Dream Girls and Wicked(I'm unsure if this ones still showing) are big right now
-Ride a trolley car
-See the view of the Transamerica Pyramid
Overall, the history of this city, the art, the crazy and different people you meet out here, and just the overall atmosphere is amazing. Hope you have one excellent and unforgettable honeymoon.
