Cheap hotels in the San Francisco area?

I am going on a trip with two teachers and my friend for a retreat a few hours away from San Francisco. We are going to stay in San Francisco for a few days however, and we were wondering if there are any cheap hotels that are still pretty nice close to an area that we can do stuff. We have never been there, so are there any things we should check out? Also, it would be nice to have transportation from the airport to the hotel.Cheap hotels in the San Francisco area?
You might have some luck with this group of hotels. Clean, fairly inexpensive and they are close to BART which makes getting there from SFO easy if they no longer have a shuttle service.

there is a lot that sf has to offer in different areas. the golden gate bridge, lombard st, coit tower, fishermans wharf/pier 39, golden gate park, union square, the metreon, yuerba buena, at%26amp;t park where the giants play (one of the prettiest ballparks) and lots more. between bart and muni.. and taxis too you should be able to get around fairly easy. bart will take you to/from SFO if there isn't a hotel shuttle.Cheap hotels in the San Francisco area?
Holiday Inn Express Fisherman's Wharf would be a good option for you. You can walk to the most popular attractions in the city, including: Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, The Cannery, Embarcadero Center, Alcatraz and Bay Tours and cable car turnarounds.

The Holiday Inn Express has pretty good rates for hotels in San Francisco, which can usually be pretty pricey. You can also save some money since the hotel offers a free hot breakfast.

They don't offer free transporation from the airport, but I would also recommend that you don't try to rent a car as the parking fees at the hotel and in the area are fairly high.

Hope this helps. Have fun with your friends! I love San Francisco and I know you'll have a great time!
