How much money to live in San Francisco?

I like to know how much money would be needed to live on a long range term in San Francisco. I mean :

- monthly rental a one bedroom apartment in a medium quality area, including taxes

- food expenses and home expenses, I am not a fancy guy

- gas expenses, for light and heating, I am sensitive to cold (but not interested in South Ca)

On the other hand I won't have a car.

Anymore things I forgot, please do not hesitate. Again, I am a simple guy, thou I am not going to eat salads everyday. lol

Rent $1600 per month for a 1 bedroom apartment is the city average

Gas and Electricity $40 per month without using heat during the winter probably closer to $60 per month

Food $200 per month if you want to eat out occasionally.

Cable TV, Internet, Phone expenses budget another $100 per month

Transportation A muni pass is $60 per month if you travel outside the city you will need to budget another $20 - 40 per month. How much money to live in San Francisco?
Rent of a apartment would depend upon the area you are going to stay in.More happening or posh the area more will be the rent. Renting a economical and decent apartment won't cost you more than 1500$.

Food if you prefer less going and dinning out then your food expense would be 60$ a week.

Rest is the same as my above friends have mentioned.

Traveling out of city would cost you bit more depending upon where you are traveling( whether public transport is good there or you need to rent a car). How much money to live in San Francisco?
Well if you want to live alone a stuido going in San Francisco is about $1,000 a month. Thats for a studio, 1 Bedroom might run you around $1200. Depends on where you live in San Francisco.

Food expenses is really up to you and your tastes. For I never spend more than $50 a week for food. Most of the times less, it really depends on what you eat. I eat a lot of TV dinners cause Im always working and going to school.

Right now its getting cold, I wouldnt use the heater in the apartment since gas cost way more than electricity. I bought a couple plug in heaters and just use that. It shouldnt be more than $50 - $75 a month. Really depends on how much you use it. You can always just put more clothes on, thats what I do....

If you dont have a car, You probably want to get a Muni Fast Pass which is about $60/month. (Just a FYI hah)
