Why do people hate San Francisco?

I live in San Francisco and I love it. It's a great city with so many things to do and experience. Sure its liberal but who said thats bad. Also being active in The Progressive Agenda is actually pretty awesome and refreshing. So talk **** if you want. I wanna hear honest opinions. Why do people hate San Francisco?
i love san francisco. i was born there and i'll always have a place in my heart for it. it has a colorful interesting history and a beautiful place to be. the skyline is iconic and the city is as colorful as the pride flag. many interesting people live there and not only is it a sanctuary for gay people but for young people and almost everyone in the bay area. in its own way, its kind of like an imaginary world. the city is alive and anyone who can't at least appreciate it just doesn't know it. san francisco has a little bit of everything and maybe its just not for everyone.

people here are more tolerant and i guess they aren't in other places. i think its about respect and about an open mind and tolerance. if you don't like it, then leave. at least we can breathe here. Why do people hate San Francisco?
Only right-wing religious freaks openly despise San Francisco since they feel it is a gay mecca. They ar the ones who came in from Utah and funded the Prop 8. However, there are just as many if not more gay people in West Hollywood, Boston, New York. It has a flashy reputation going back 100 years to the Barbary Coast and pioneer days. People make fun of San Francisco because they dont know it is a regular city with a 20% gay population, and it is the #1 tourist spot in America for its scenery, architecture, arts and tolerance for diverse peoples. Even in San Francisco, gay people were arrested less than 50 years ago for congregating. Many cities are sanctuary cities, Chicago, Portland and others. It is a prejudice not based on fact, but skewed idea of living here. Your lifestyle is whatever you want it to be.
For many people in the other 49 states, San Francisco is the epitome of everything "wrong" with California.

It has one of the most sweeping sanctuary laws for illegal immigrants in the nation. Taxes are generally very high. And folks are paying a million dollars for lousy apartments in a crime ridden neighborhood. It has a mayor who's accomplishments consist of (1) same-sex marriage; (2) drinking heavily; and (3) cheating on his wife. Yet, the clueless voters of California have punished these transgressions by electing him Lt. Governor alongside Moonbeam. The same electorate has anointed San Francisco's failed district attorney, who has the lowest conviction rate of any major city DA in the nation, the state's Attorney General. Both of the state's very liberal U.S. senators are also from the San Francisco Bay Area. Then there are the endless machinations of San Francisco's city council. The Board of Supervisors has a reputation for trying to micro-manage every aspect of one's life. Everything from banning Happy Meal toys to regulating the material used in plastic bags. Critics see this as the nanny state, socialism, etc.

I do not agree with this overly simplistic caricature of San Francisco, mind you. Progressivism has given San Francisco universal health care, the best public transportation system this side of the Mississippi, a treasure trove of public art, and so forth. So there's as much good as there is bad.

However, the reputation is what it is.Why do people hate San Francisco?
Well I dont hate it cause I live here too! HAHAHA

I actually have the same question. But I love it here.

I love how liberal and laid back SF is. I love SF!

All them haters can talk all the Sh*t they want, I dont care!
Some folks hate the weather; some folks hate the politics, some folks hate the gays.

Some feel it lacks the 'excitement' of Los Angeles (whatever that really means)Why do people hate San Francisco?
It's because of that progressive agenda.
It's a fun place to hang out, but I'm quite happy being able to drive home 45 minutes to the south.
Honestly...

I'm moving to San Francisco because I go to art school online there, and I cannot wait to move there!!!!!
Because its GAY. Literally...
