Most residents of SF and Sausalito love the fog horns.
But yes, the summers are foggy and the horns do go off on a regular note to warn shipping away from the Golden Gate Bridge.

It was very foggy on the bay this morning. I like the foghorns. The old ones used to have a nicer sound. These electronic ones annoy me a little but I still find it romantic. I am in Tiburon and heard the same thing you do. You should blog this on the Sausalito.net site.
