San Francisco is a great city. It offers absolutely everything in the way of food. It is easy to get from point A to point B. There is every kind of entertainment imaginable. So much to see and do, just enjoy it and have fun.Whats a fun thing to do in San Francisco thats not so touristy?
You could try some of the Chinese restaurants on Stockton Street in Chinatown. Many of the customers there are from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. so the food is supposed to be more authentic. The restaurants on Clement St. are also frequented more by locals, than by tourists. You can find better value (though not dirt cheap) restaurants of all kinds (coffee shops, Italian, American, etc.) on Fillmore Street. Again, many of the customers are locals, not tourists. Going to the opera is another activity done by locals, not just tourists.Whats a fun thing to do in San Francisco thats not so touristy?
Sean 94100 has nailed it. Sounds like the advice of a City Boy to me. But Sean, you left out Lake Merced, which they probably would have found by going to the Zoo. Me? Stevenson, Giannini, Lincoln...a Sunset Boy from '52 till forever.Whats a fun thing to do in San Francisco thats not so touristy?
See some improv at SF's best improv company, BATS Improv--Fort Mason Center

Take a mural tour with Precita Eyes.

First -- Visit the Visitor's Center which is in Hallidie Plaza at Powell %26amp; Market St. where the cable car turnaround is located. Take the escalator down and the center is right past the cable car coffee tables.
SF has a good bus system. Use public transit and join us residents. Beware that during commute hours it can get crowded so try to grab a seat %26amp; guard against pickpockets %26amp; watch your purse %26amp; wallets (that's what residents do). Remember to stay out of the first few seats in front of the bus unless you are a senior because the elderly or disabled will invariably get on the bus, stand before you and you will be obliged to vacate the seat and wade into the crowded aisles again. See Sean's suggestions above -- You can get to GG Park, the Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. on Muni. Get a muni map. Buy muni unlimited ride pass and use the underground Metro, ride the vintage cars on Market St., the trolleys on the Embarcadero, etc.
