What are some good things for families to do in and around San Francisco?

I'm taking my family to San Francisco tomorrow to Thursday. I have a 15 year old son, and 14 year old daughter. What are some good things for us to do? We have a few things planned already, but I'm just looking to see if there are some things we might have missed. Thanks a lot! What are some good things for families to do in and around San Francisco?

there's shopping, golden gate (of course) there are also many museums like museums of science %26amp; there are parks, gardens, universities, alcatraz, china town, "little italy", union square, cable cars, lombard (crooked street), cliff house, sausalito (still part of it, but a little bit away. you'll find sometimes there'll b activities going on in the streets like festivals), city hall. the museums aren't boring they have wonders you can experience like the tree canopy that you can walk in that has other surprises i'll leave for you all to see %26amp; the king tut exhibit in the other part of the museum.
*_~ So glad that you're considering SF for a travel !

I grow up here, always wanted to leave Bay Area However after my travel for the last 7 years to Seattle, LA, San Diego, LAs VEgas, Florida, New Orlean, HK, China, Japan, Hawaii, Thailand and Europe.. I can tell you that there's no place like the Bay Area!!

I just love the weather and the diverse culture here!! Traffic can be hectic but still bearable. Public transport is great! You can always take Bart, ferries, bus, taxi or cable car etc. However, if you don’t have much time or want to travel beyond the city – I think a car would help a lot. Yes, you have to pay for parking, but save you time to go more places faster..

Embarcadero is wicked nice, and it's not THAT far, so you could really just walk down it to the Ferry Building. On Saturdays they do a nice farmer's market and you can get lots of good stuff. Walk down to Pier 39.
