I'm hoping to hear from locals, or someone who knows a lot about San Francisco, and can tell me about more than just the ultra-touristy spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, and Pier 39. I'm only 19 though, so unfortunately bars aren't an option.
I know San Francisco is a great city, so I don't want to waste my visit!What should I do and see while in San Francisco?
Fisherman's Wharf ... like it or not, that is near where Pier 39 is located. It actually is a great place to go. If the Giants are in town, their ballpark is an incredible place to see a baseball game (if you like BB). Go to the top of Coit Tower for incredible views of the entire Bay Area. Take a the Red %26amp; White ferry (near Peir 39) out to Alcatraz ... Alcatraz is really neat. Take the Red %26amp; White ferry and go out to Angel Island on which you can hike and take in AMAZING views of the Bay Area.
Spend some time in the Haight-Ashbury district ... great restaurants. The Presidio is an old military installation South and West of the GG Bridge. The scenery is spectacular.
Avoid Union Square ... VERY touristy and nothing but shopping.What should I do and see while in San Francisco?
If you like science and tech, the Exploratorium is a very fun science museum. If you like high end shopping, Union Square has the big expensive stores. If you have never seen the ocean, you should go to the beach. Memphis Minnie's in the Lower Haight has great BBQ.
