Can i just go and send out resumes, or are ther any sort of forms i need to fill out? How do east coasters fair out west in the business world? How is the marketing/advertising world out in San Fran?
Kinda just jumping into this thing blind so if you have any suggestions... where to look/avoid, places to go, things to say etc. let me know. Email me if ya want.Graduating college next week, visiting a few friends in San Francisco and i want to start a career there?
The reception will largely depend on where you're coming from. East Coast is rather vague, since it could mean anything from Maine to Florida.
Transplants from the Mid-Atlantic states make up a significant portion of San Francisco's population. For example, Diane Fienstein is originally from New York City, and Nancy Pelosi is from Baltimore. If you're from that region of the country, you'll like run into many compatriots in the board rooms of San Francisco.
Corporate jobs in San Francisco and the Bay Area are highly competitive. Stanford and Berkeley are both local, top-tier universities. They produce many MBAs (who by virtue of being locals have certain advantages over competitors). Once you get a good job, however, wages are exceptionally high:

Not surprisingly, most of the advertising firms in the Bay Area are located in the Financial District. So, most likely, you'll have an easy commute on the subway, commuter trains, or ferries regardless.Graduating college next week, visiting a few friends in San Francisco and i want to start a career there?
AT%26amp;T-Pacific Bell is a good company to work for. I believe they're currently hiring fiber-optic installers. I visited SF last year and I was talking to a Pacific Bell guy at a bar (Al's Elbow Room, Mission St near the southern end of SF, very friendly place) and I recently looked at their employment website (at att.com) and they're still hiring.
