:O Oh y, there's sooo much to do there! It's a must - to visit there. I love living around the bay.

You need to

-Walk the Golden Gate Bridge

-Visit the Marin Headlands

-Go to China Town

-Visit Fisherman's Wharf

-Go to Pier 39

-Take a ferry to Alcatraz

-Check out Union Square %26amp; the shopping districts

-See the Civic Center (city hall)

-Drive down Lombard Street

-Go to the top of Coit Tower

I'd also say to see AT%26amp;T Park, where the Giants play, and visit the central area and see the buildings like the pyramid, and the Bank of America (biggest building in the city).

It's a beautiful, beautiful city! I would recommend taking one of those tour buses around to get familiar with it, then explore it yourself! Oh and go to Golden Gate Park! Okay and I know I have exceeded 10 but you MUST see the old arcade in Fisherman's wharf. It is CLASSIC. The original "Laughing Sal" is in there. There's a great Wax Museum and Rainforest Cafe over there you should see too!

Have fun. :-)
Limit your time at Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 to the time it takes you to go to %26amp; from Alcatraz it is nothing but a tacky, overpriced tourist trap.

Here is my Must Do San Francisco

1. Ride a Cable Car, the only moving historical landmark in the world. Stop off at the Cable Car Barn at Washington and Mason to get a full understanding of this unique form of transportation. Riding the Powell Hyde line will allow you to see Lombard Street the famous crooked street.

2. Visit Alcatraz, this former prison is the most popular destination in San Francisco. The bay cruise to and from the island will give you the opportunity to see the skyline from the water a unique perspective. It is wise to purchase tickets before you arrive as tours are often sold out http://www.alcatrazcruises.com

3. Visit Coit Tower, Beautiful murals inside, impressive bay view from the tower or Pioneer Park at the base. Then descend Telegraph hill via the Filbert Steps on the east side of the park for a unique view of how folks on Telegraph Hill live, more beautiful bay views and the chance to hear and see the famous Parrots of Telegraph Hill.

4. Golden Gate Bridge, not just a feat of engineering, this 1.7 mile span offers incredible views of The City, the bay and the Pacific ocean. Be sure to visit Ft. Point under the bridge for a different view of this San Francisco Icon.

5. Explore Golden Gate Park, this large urban park can consume a whole day. The Japanese Tea Garden, California Accademy of Science, the DeYoung Art Muesum, the Arboretum, Bison Paddock, and Paddle boats are all worth a look and watch the sun go down over the Pacific over a drink or dinner at the Beach Chalet.

6. Chinatown, the most densely populated portion of San Francisco offers an abundance of shopping, food and unique architecture found outside of Asia. The best place to buy souvenirs to take home to friends and family.

7. North Beach, traditionally the Italian section of the city which has no beach but abounds in quaint shops, great restaurants and The City鈥檚 best coffee options.

8. Civic Center, the largest collection of Beaux Arts buildings in the US. Home to San Francisco City Hall, with a dome larger than the US Capital, the Asian Art Museum and the Modern San Francisco Library with its San Francisco History Room housing an eclectic collection of city artifacts and photographs.

9. Yerba Buena Gardens, this urban park is located near the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of The African Diaspora, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the contemporary Jewish Museum, and the Metreon, it will keep you entertained for hours.

10. Twin Peaks, see The City and the bay spread out at your feet. Especially captivating at night when the lights seem to go on for ever. What are the top 10 unique or interesting things to do in San Francisco?
-Stuff you should do-

-Walk the Golden Gate Bridge

-Explore the Marin Headlands and the decommissioned bunkers

-Muir Woods

-Hike around Mt. Tam

-Drive around and explore the Presidio

-Hike Lands End

-If you can, bike around Golden Gate Park, or drive through it and explore it

-Museums- MOMA, Exploratorium, DeYoung, Cable Car etc

-Cable Car

-Eat several times in the Mission District (El Farolito, Papalote, Four Barrel Coffe/Ritual Coffee Roasters, Monks Kettle(brewpub/gastropub), La Taqueria)

-Walk down Stockton St through Chinatown, it's the true part of Chinatown and is pretty similar to China with all the markets. You can walk down Grant St too, which is the tourist part of Chinatown.

-Hong Kong Clay Pot is my favorite restaurant in Chinatown, reminds me a lot of restaurants from me time in China. House of Nanking is a good tourist experience too.

-Alcatraz

-Anchor Brewery tour. These are booked up one to two months in advance, so make make a reservation as soon as possible.

-Stop by and check out The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. Huge building and definitely worth checking out the inside.

-Haight area. My favorite bar, Toronado is here(in the lower Haight). Cha Cha Cha is a great tapas place. Just walk and see what there is to find.

-Tadich Grill in my mind is the classic San Francisco restaurant, oldest in the state, opened in 1849. Pricey, but worth it.

-If you must, Fisherman's Wharf. Only thing worth going down there for is the clam chowder.

-If you must, Ghirardelli Square, hot fudge sunday is good. If you walk into the shop, they give out free pieces of chocolate too.

-I fully recommend to stay away from Union Square. You can go shopping anywhere, why spend time shopping when there is so much else to see in an amazing city. Also, stay away from the restaurants around Union Square, they pale in comparison to the food in the rest of the city and the only reason they stay open is because of tourists who are not returning customers.

-Just drive around the city and try to get lost and see stuff.

-If you don't know what it is, check out Yelp, and if you have a smartphone, see if you can the Yelp app for it. It's user reviews of businesses in the area and Yelp is king here.

-Sorry for such a long list, I wanted to give an expansion on all the very touristy things to do. There's so much more that is better than the usual tourist options. This list is what I like to show people when they visit for the first time.
