Family-fun things to do in San Francisco?

I want to meander off the beaten path, and do some fun things most tourists don't do in San Francisco. I was the activities to suit [adults] and children 10-17. Do you have any suggestions?

A lot of things that tourists often do are very fun hehe. I would recommend spending time walking through the different parts of town like Japantown, North Beach, etc. I always find doing that fun even though I live here in the city. Another thing that's fun would be riding the cable car to Pier 39 and buying an Earthquake at Ghiradelli Square.Family-fun things to do in San Francisco?
Rent bikes and ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Sausalito and Tiburon, then take the ferry back to SF.

Hike the Marin Headlands on the North End of the Golden Gate Bridge and look over the entire SF Bay Area and look down on the top of the bridge as you are so high up.

Take the tour at Alcatraz, because every wants to do this, but it sells out. It is worth the boat ride alone.
